Our baking club starts with a very special secret ingredient. It’s called “love”. Then we put on our aprons and hair nets. Let the fun begin!

We mix the flour and eggs very well. Sometimes we do it by hand and sometimes we use an electric mixer. Of course, we have strong arms and hands from mixing all of the ingredients together very well. We also use a whisk for some of our cooking techniques.

Next comes the rolling pin. We go back and forth with the rolling pin to be sure we have just the right amount of thickness. We use a little extra flour to prevent the dough from sticking. Kneading dough, whisking batter, and decorating cookies can be incredibly rewarding. Cookie cutters come in all shapes and sizes and we all chose the ones we like best. We have stars and angels and many more to pick from. Not only do we bake cookies, we also bake muffins and other baked goods.

Adding chocolate chips or blueberries is something we do and of course we can’t help but taste a few samples of each! Next, the baking begins. The aroma is very comforting and makes everyone eager to taste the final product. After we remove from the oven, we begin decorating.

This is a favorite part of putting finishing touches on our baked goods. We are experienced in using the decorating bags and take delight in our finished products. Healthy eating brings healthy living. Whether it’s a batch of cookies, a loaf of bread, or a beautifully decorated cake, the end result brings a sense of accomplishment. With great pride, we enjoy sharing all of our baked goods with everyone. So, in the cozy activity room of our senior community, flour-dusted hands come together to knead dough, sprinkle sugar, and create sweet memories. The joy of baking transcends age, and every cookie baked is a testament to the warmth of companionship and the sweetness of life.
