Chalk Art at St. Joseph’s!

Here at St. Joseph’s Senior Home, we care not only about physical health but also about the mental and spiritual well-being of our residents. To keep our residents happy and engaged, the Sisters and their helpers come up with different forms of entertainment which all residents can participate in. One of the most recent and noteworthy activities which residents have enjoyed tremendously is chalk art! First initiated by Ms. Daniele Fleming as part of the Middlesex County project, the activity includes covering the inside walls of St. Joseph’s home with colorful paintings drawn with chalk. The residents would observe the drawings being created first by Ms. Daniele, then by Sister Anna, and now by one of the employees Adan who also has a natural gift for drawing. Now, the brick, orange walls of the inside of St. Joseph’s courtyards are covered in vivid colors depicting flowers, ladybugs, butterflies, etc. The activity is very simple, it is nothing extraordinary, but it brings as much joy and happiness to our seniors as the most unusual form of entertainment we could possibly think of.
