“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” /St.Teresa of Calcutta/
Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love on February 14. Its name comes from St. Valentine, whose liturgical memorial in the Catholic Church is celebrated on the same day. Here at St. Joseph’s Senior Home, we share our love with the people we care for every day. Despite the ongoing fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, we continue to give our Residents as much care and love as possible.
“This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.” /John 15, 12/
With this holiday we can convey our feelings to our beloved residents and put smiles on their faces so we decided to do something very special! We have organized a celebration with beautiful, colorful decorations that definitely improved the mood of our Residents (and ours too!). Everyone could try delicious snacks, chocolates from heart-shaped boxes and a Valentine’s cake. Our activity room was filled with nice music, pink and red, but also with smiles and love. To commemorate these joyful moments, we have prepared a photo shoot, the effects of which you can see below. Our residents happily posed against the background of colorful balloons and flowers, holding Valentine’s pillows in their hands. During the Valentine’s season we also had a concert given by our friend Andy Hladek who with many songs accompanied by the guitar lifted our spirits up. Our Residents were singing, clapping hands and some even dancing! What a joy! A great big thank you to the many friends and family members of the St. Jospeh’s Senior Home community who sent beautiful Valentines gifts and handmade cards. Your generosity and shared love brought a ray of happiness to all of us! We hope that you too had a very lovely Valentines Day!
“It is not enough to LOVE, people have to feel that they are LOVED” /St. John Bosco/
Here is a little testimony given by our Resident, Veronica Wojtowicz ( Cioci Verna)
“February, the shortest month of the year, has the biggest heart. We all had a wonderful Valentine celebration here at St. Joseph’s Senior Home. The windows and walls were decorated with many Valentine hearts of paper, cardboard, whatever you can think of, but the ceiling was lined with the most beautiful balloons. We were treated to music and treats and two very special Valentine’s cakes that were cut and served. Kasia, Adline, and Jackie, and all the dedicated staff here, worked very hard with Sr. Joseph, Sr. Anna and Sr. Joanna to make this day very special for us, so a good time was had by all!”
